How It Started
Between the two of us, we owned three properties in Central Virginia. And between the two of us, we were spending entire weekends chasing contractors, following up on estimates, managing seasonal maintenance, and trying to remember when the HVAC filters were last changed.
We weren’t bad at it. We were just exhausted by it. And we knew we weren’t alonevery homeowner we talked to had the same story. The problem wasn’t a shortage of good contractors or a lack of information. It was the absence of anyone accountable for the whole picture.
Property managers handle rentals. General contractors handle projects. But nobody was handling the ongoing, proactive management of a home as a system. That gap between ownership and peace of mind is exactly what Alcove was built to fill.
We launched in Charlottesville because this is home. We know the area, we know the contractors, and we understand the particular demands of homes across Central Virginia — from historic properties in the city to sprawling estates in the county. Our goal was simple: build the service we wished we could hire.

We’re homeowners, operators, and Central Virginia locals. We built Alcove because we lived the problem ourselves.

Alcove exists to give homeowners something they never expected to have: confidence that their home is being cared for, completely, without requiring their constant attention.
We believe home ownership should feel like an asset, not a second job. We believe good contractors deserve better clients — and better clients deserve a professional intermediary. And we believe that Central Virginia homeowners deserve a service built specifically for this market, by people who live here.
